About me

Kara Manso (They/them) is a multi-disciplinary artist and Care Worker currently based in Toronto. They were born and raised in Dumaguete, Philippines, and came to Canada through the Live-in caregiver program. They practice visual storytelling through illustrations, comics, and art installations. They’ve used it to highlight personal and collective experiences and resistance of Care Workers in Canada, and have shown at the Mayworks Festival, Cue Arts, and Summer Works. 

For the last few years, Kara has been working as a Care Worker with people living with Alzheimer's. They were on the long-term care home front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic and have processed the experience through daily comic vignettes.
